Following the collapse of social partnership talks between unions and government on developing a framework for national recovery on 10 February 2009 ICTU, feeling that government was not heeding them,Congress decided to co-ordinate a National Day of Action on 21 February. With a weeks notice we were asked to communicate both the ActionDay and the unions’ 10 items for a fair and equitable national recovery. They wanted a minimum of 50,000 people to attend from both the Private and the Public sector… and they wanted 25,000 banners!

• Viral on YouTube was the most watched video in Ireland that week (to date it has had over 6,500 hits).
